Stereotypes of The Holocaust
This is the gas chamber where thousands of the prisoners were killed. The prisoners were forced inside this small room, the door was shut, and the gas was vented in through a small vent on the wall. The Nazi's would wait until all the prisoners were dead and then pull them out of the chamber. This picture was taken in June 2008.
During the time of the Holocaust, other groups were targeted by the Nazi’s. These groups include gypsies, the disabled, Poles, and Russians (United States, n.d). Jewish people have been stereotyped as greedy people who love to accumulate money, gold, or jewels. Other stereotypes include large nose, dark hair and dark features. Hitler had hatred towards the Jewish population and wanted to rebuild Germany with a more superior race and culture. Hitler used his power and propaganda to persuade other authorities to be against the Jewish race. The Jews did not fit Hitler’s plan to change the country of Germany to what he thought it should be. The result was millions of people killed, and a culture that had to work hard to rebuild its morals and values (“Why did hitler, n.d). In order for the Jewish culture to survive the Holocaust, the victims in the concentration camp had to continue to maintain their faith.
This is one of the guard towers at the concentration camp. The guards would sit at the top of the tower and look out over the camp. They kept weapons on them and made sure no prisoners tried to escape. If that was the case, death was the solution. This picture was taken in June 2008.
